Crafts
It is envisaged that at the end of the training, 40 households in Domakonda would be engaged in Handloom weaving.
The State and Central government have also extended their support to train women, by reimbursing the salary of the trainer and providing the trainees a stipend of Rs.300/- per day during the training period.
Culture
DFVDT believes the best practices of our traditions and culture need to be transferred to future generations. In this direction DFVDT encourages women to celebrate the BATHUKAMMA festival in Domakonda Fort where large number of women participate and sing songs which respect the culture of Telangana and also pray for the wellbeing of their families.
Another major tradition which is encouraged is the Bullock Cart procession, during UGADI festival to encourage farmers and to ensure their agriculture and allied activities flourish.
Similarly, SHIVARATHRI festival is celebrated with Poojas at the Mahadev Temple in the Fort, while classical cultural activities are performed in the vicinity.
Cuisine
Food forms an important link to our Cultural Heritage and is also tightly linked to people’s cultural identities. As part of these cultural identities, the term cuisine is used to refer to specific cultural traditions of cooking, preparing and consuming food.
Recipes are passed down through generations, the tastes, smells and sights of meals connect us with our ancestral heritage. From preparation techniques, ingredients and eating etiquette, one receives a more well-rounded, more visceral understanding of different cultures through food.
DFVDT is promoting local Cuisine as a part of its drive to promote our Cultural Heritage.
Traditional cooking methods and recipes using local organically grown produce are being encouraged by DFVDT at the Domakonda Fort.
